SP 505 - Exceptional Child This introductory course surveys the range of exceptionalities of individuals birth through 21. Particular focus is allocated to school-age students and their special education needs. Course content is organized in four areas: (a) foundation and context of education for individuals with disabilities, (b) characteristics, definitions, and educational considerations for individuals with disabilities, (c) issues and trends in special education, and (d) role of individualized education plan in the provision of special education services. Individual disabilities will be examined from within- and cross-categorical perspectives. (3 credit hours)
