PY 421D - Psychopathology II


Prerequisite(s): PY 420D.  This course is the second of the sequence in psychopathology, and surveys additional components of psychopathology emphasizing a biopsychosocial approach. This course completes an overview of the DSM diagnostic categories, including feeding and eating disorders, elimination disorders, sleep disorders, sexual dysfunctions, gender dysphoria, neurocognitive disorders, personality disorders, paraphilic disorders, and issues related to child and adult maltreatment, abuse, and neglect.  The course emphasizes integration of knowledge and skills from Psychopathology I, and students develop skills in making appropriate diagnoses, recognizing comorbidity, and building case conceptualization skills.  Cultural and developmental factors related to mental illness are emphasized. (2 credits)
