CC 547 - Professional Ethics and Issues


The course examines the professional, ethical, and legal issues related to the practice of professional counseling. Issues considered include privacy, privilege, confidentiality and its limitations, informed consent, patients’ rights, malpractice, patient-therapist relationships, and other regulations influencing the practice of counseling and psychotherapy. Additionally, the course examines the major decision making models used for analyzing ethical dilemmas. Relevant local statutes and laws are also covered. (3 credits)
