PY 7012L - Pediatric Health Psychology: Assessment and Intervention Pediatric Health Psychology: Assessment and Intervention provides a comprehensive overview of pediatric health psychology, including its historical foundations, theoretical frameworks, and current research. Students will explore the biopsychosocial factors influencing child and adolescent health, focusing on evidence-based assessment and intervention strategies for managing acute and chronic medical conditions. Key topics include pain management, treatment adherence, coping with chronic illness, sleep disturbances, feeding and gastrointestinal disorders, diabetes management, and oncology care, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration within medical settings. Students will gain hands-on experience in behavioral health assessment tools, psychological interventions, and family-centered care models, while also examining psychosocial, cultural, ethical, and legal considerations in pediatric healthcare. Through case studies and clinical applications, this course prepares students to work effectively with children, families, and healthcare teams in diverse pediatric settings (3 credit hours)
