PY 7007L - Advanced Applications in Neuropsychology


Advanced Applications in Neuropsychology provides an in-depth examination of neuropsychological assessment principles, focusing on the selection, administration, and interpretation of standardized measures of cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning.. Students will develop skills in evaluating cognitive domains such as, executive functioning, memory, language, visuospatial, motor, and emotional functioning, while integrating test results with clinical interviews, behavioral observations, historical data, and medical records for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. The course covers test selection, differential diagnosis of neurological and psychiatric conditions, and the assessment of neurocognitive changes due to brain injury, neurodevelopmental disorders, and degenerative diseases. The course will integrate current research, psychometric considerations, ethical issues and best practices for communicating findings through neuropsychological reports and direct client feedback.  (3 credit hours)
