PY 7005L - Advanced Child and Adolescent Therapy

Advanced Child and Adolescent Therapy: Integrative Treatment Approaches explores evidence-based interventions for complex psychological, emotional, and behavioral challenges in children and adolescents. This course examines the integration of multiple therapeutic modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), attachment-based approaches, family systems therapy, parent interventions, play therapy, and trauma-informed care. Students will develop advanced clinical skills in assessment, case conceptualization, and treatment planning, with a focus on adapting interventions to developmental stages, cultural contexts, and diverse clinical settings. Through the use of multiple teaching strategies that may include case studies, role-playing, and experiential learning, students will enhance their ability to provide comprehensive, individualized care for children, adolescents, and their families.  (3 credit hours)
