MM 545 - Professional, Legal, and Ethical Issues in Marriage and Family Therapy


This course examines ethics, laws, and professionalism in the field of marriage and family therapy. Topics include the ethical practice of psychotherapy, required licenses and regulatory bodies, impending regulatory expectations, professional standards of codes of ethics (AAMFT & CAMFT), legal and regulatory issues, professional organizations, tools for examining values and ethical theory, ethical dimensions, and the importance and process of interprofessional coordination and cooperation (3 credit hours)
