PY 413 - Basic Practicum Seminar I


Prerequisite(s): PY 422  PY 434  PY 436  PY 443  and an assessment elective This first semester of a yearlong course provides a small consultation group in which students examine relevant clinical and professional development issues that arise as a result of participation in the Basic Practicum. With a focus on evidence based practice, case conceptualizations and diagnostic discussions occur reviewing assessment data, with additional considerations of rapport development, broad system issues (e.g., family, school, community, court, political, other treatment professionals/programs), and areas of diversity and difference (e.g., race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, disability. socioeconomic status) as contextual variables. This yearlong sequence is taken while students are concurrently taking a minimum 600-hour basic practicum.  (3 credit hours)
