PY 450 - Professional Issues and Ethics


Prerequisite(s): PY 678   Professional, ethical, and legal issues related to the practice of clinical psychology and the psychologist as clinician, consultant, educator, and researcher are critically examined in this course. Students will demonstrate familiarity with the APA Code of Ethics. Issues considered include privacy, privilege, confidentiality and its limitations, informed consent, patients’ rights, malpractice, client-therapist relationships, collegial relationships, and other regulations influencing the practice of psychology. The exploration of the intersection of ethics and personal values, as well as multicultural and diversity factors, will also be emphasized (3 credits)
