PY 446D - Diversity in Clinical Psychology II


Prerequisite(s): PY 443D . This course requires students to apply knowledge and skills acquired in Diversity I with an emphasis on clinical application with clients. Using a systems approach, the course will address privilege, its inherent characteristics and mechanisms, and the ways those mechanisms affect the lives of less privileged individuals and groups. Identity development models (racial and sexual orientation) will be applied, and the quality of life, challenges and coping mechanisms of diverse populations will be explored. This course will specifically address clinical considerations in relation to gender, ethnicity, religion/spirituality, class, race, abledness, immigrant status, identity, sexual orientation, and language. (2 credits)
