BA 426 - Abnormal Child and Adolescent Psychology


This course will focus on psychological disorders and their effect upon children and adolescents. Students will review historical theories of child psychopathology, will compare and contrast various issues of diagnosis and assessment, and will review how environment factors interact with biology and may affect developmental stages to manifest various disorders.  Topics will include attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), conduct disorder and other disruptive behavior disorders, as well as autism, Asperger’s, affective (mood) disorders, substance use and eating disorders. (3 credits)
