PY 428 - Statistics II


Prerequisite(s): Successful passage of the department’s Statistics Proficiency Exam with a score greater than or equal to 80%. This course furthers students’ abilities to understand and apply quantitative and mathematical modeling and analysis to psychological data by teaching students advanced statistical techniques at both the conceptual and applied levels. Students will learn how statistical techniques can be used to answer research questions in Clinical Psychology. Students will learn to choose the appropriate statistical technique for a given research question, conduct analyses in SPSS, interpret SPSS outputs and write an APA style results section. Topics covered include data cleaning and screening, complex factorial ANOVA, repeated measures ANOVA, multiple regression, logistic regression, MANOVA, factor analysis and a brief discussion of advanced techniques such as path analysis and structure equation modeling. (3 credit hours)
