PP 7340 - Issues in the Assessment and Treatment of Diverse Populations


This course is designed to sensitize students to the presence of cultural and racial stereotypes that interfere with optimal understanding and treatment of racial and ethnic populations in American society. Theory and research are reviewed so as to understand cultural differences and the interplay among concepts of pathology, treatment, and cultural stereotyping. Information is provided about the unique mental health needs of African various ethnic, cultural, LGBT, and disabled populations. (3 credit hours)
