PY 497 - Advanced Intervention: Family


Prerequisite(s): PY 468 . This course will focus on basic and advanced principles of major family theories. Students will develop specific skills in assessing and intervening with families with a particular focus on strengthening family resilience. A critical contextual understanding of how diversity variables, social location, and macrosystemic issues of power and oppression shape family wellness is emphasized throughout the course. Through this course, students will 1) develop as systems based clinicians and 2) learn specific strategies to strengthen families and the communities from which they emerge. (2 credit hours)
