PF 740 - Hostage NegotiationThis course examines strategies for negotiating a critical incident, understanding and managing the critical incident, and communication techniques, as well as as understanding perpetrators, stress, and stress management, and the Stockholm syndrome within a hostage situation. In addition, students gain an understanding of crisis negotiation, debriefing, hostage take demands, and the effects of time on a situation. International incidents, such as kidnapping, are examined. As the capstone of the course, students participate in an extended role play, with local law enforcement, which allows students to synthesize and apply what has been learned throughout the course.
